Second Poem for the Possum

pink light hovers in the glistening

the burned lungs of trees

natural neon tears float up

among the possum tails

the muddy droplets of teeth

 

loam-swirled freckles

breaking open nails

ferocious undercoat

holding hoar frost at bay
